bohemea:
Oh my god, that source post you reblogged about sourcing is blowing my mind! I've always wanted the source to be the actual post & not my main tumblr page, but I didn't think there was a way to do that & I didn't want posts to get lost so I always made my main page the source (unless it came from a different site) so at least people could trace posts with info removed back to the place it was originally posted, but the post itself would still be lost. Plus it'll save time! Hooray! Thank you!

bohemea, continued: But you know what? That’s not always the case. It’s only when it’s a reblog of a reblog that it does the auto-source. I just reblogged a picture that had a blank source & the source didn’t show up when I reblogged it, but then SB reblogged the reblog from me & it showed up. Weird! Tumblr is weird! I just said reblog a lot!

Ha ha I just tested it out and you are absolutely right. All I know is that it’s only difficult to find the original post if you’re like the millionth person to reblog it AND the OP sourced back to their main page.

I guess Tumblr doesn’t auto-source when you reblog directly from the source because you’re already AT the source, but if it’s a reblog of a reblog (or a reblog of a reblog of a reblog of a reblog…) it makes sense to auto-source so people can find the original post. Like fleurdeliser said, you just click through on the link at the top of the post. But yeah, Tumblr is weird.

OK I’M PROBABLY STATING THE OBVIOUS AND I CONFUSED MYSELF. GODSPEED.
