First Lady to Speak Opening Night of Convention
The Democratic National Convention Committee announced this morning that First Lady Michelle Obama will speak on the opening night of the 2012 Democratic National Convention on Tuesday, September 4th.
“The First Lady is an inspiration to millions of Americans, and has been a tireless advocate for military families and our nation’s children,” said 2012 Democratic Convention Chair, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. “As the person who knows him best, she will offer unique insights into the President as a husband, father and a leader over the last four years.”
She will be joined opening night of the convention by San Antonio Mayor Julián Castro who will be the first Latino to deliver the keynote at a Democratic National Convention.
The First Lady will help set the stage for President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden to give their acceptance speeches before tens of thousands of Americans at Bank of America Stadium on Thursday, September 6th.
